Service Projects

The motto of Lions Clubs International is 'We Serve', and this is the underpinning philosophy of every Lions Club.

Service projects can best be described as projects involving the provision of manpower or organisational skills in support of individuals, groups or organisations. Service projects do not usually involve fundraising, and are supported by the general fundraising activities of the Club

Carterton Lions Service activities include:

SWELs Party

SWELs  are 'Seniors With Energetic Lifestyles' - Carterton's equivalent of the Old Folks Tea Party.

This event is run annually at the Social Centre in the town and is a traditional tea party with entertainment for the 90 - 110 attendees.
A traditional tea with sandwiches, cake, fruit and jelly and gallons of tea is served, and two sessions of entertainment provided by local groups including Irish Dancers, Scottish Dancers, Singers etc., and our own Lions MC to help the afternoon along

Lions provide a team of parking marshals for events which take place in the town, specifically the Carterton 10k and the Carterton Triathlon which both attract several hundred participants and spectators

Marshalling Events

Although often tied up with parking on the Carterton 10k and Triathlon events, we will provide additional marshals for these events if requested.  We also support our colleagues in the Lechlade Lions Club with parking duties at their annual Country Fayre

Emergency Message Schemes

Carterton Lions Club manage the Message in a Bottle and Message in a Wallet schemes for the Lions Clubs across Oxfordshire - see Message in a Bottle and Message in a Wallet tabs
